Camp Ellie Mae In Swansea Receives $3k Anthony F. Cordeiro Grant

The funding will allow the summer camp to continue operations this summer.

SWANSEA, MA — Camp Ellie Mae in Swansea has received a $3,000 grant from the Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation to continue operations this summer.

Camp Ellie Mae, an overnight summer camp for girls ages 3 to 18, encourages leadership and life skills without the distractions and isolation associated with social media. The grant will allow the camp to continue providing an outdoor camping experience for young girls to build their self esteem and improve their mental health.

“Due to the extraordinary circumstances of 2020, we focused last year’s first-round awards on immediate health and safety needs relating to the pandemic,” said Melanie Cordeiro, Executive Director of the Cordeiro Charitable Foundation, in a statement. “Our second-round of grants was specifically targeted to address a myriad of mental and physical health and wellness issues that were identified as the year progressed that significantly impacted individuals, families, children and even animals," she continued.
