Case Softball Loses to Amesbury In State Semifinal, 11-1

The 5th and 6th inning explosion for Amesbury helped carry them for the win and to the State title game.

SWANSEA, MA- The Case Cardinals traveled to Amesbury Middle School to face the Amesbury High Indians in the MIAA Division 3 Softball State Semifinals. Case is the South Sectional champion while Amesbury is the North champion.

The first two innings were scoreless and then in the third inning, Case’s Megan Smith singled, stole second on a wild pitch, and then scored on another wild pitch to make the game 1-0. Case would keep the shutout as Berube would get big strikeouts to stand the runners from Amesbury.

Then in the fifth inning, Amesbury catcher Ella EeLesle hit an RBI Single to bring home Lauren Celia. Then there were six errors from Case that helped score 5 unearned runs to make it 6-1 Amesbury. Amesbury would score another 5 runs in the sixth inning to make it 11-1.

Amesbury closed out the game in the seventh and will be advancing to the State finals. Amesbury will be facing Turners Fall out of Montague on Wednesday to attempt to take the state title.
