Durfee High Increases Security After 'Florida Pt. 2' Threat
The threat was posted anonymously to Snapchat and warned students not to go to school Friday.

FALL RIVER, MA – Security at Durfee High School will be increased Friday after officials learned of a social media threat that referenced the most recent school shooting in Parkland, FL. The threat, posted anonymously to Snapchat, warned students not to go to school Friday because there would be a "Florida Pt. 2."
In an audio message to the Durfee community Thursday, Principal Matt Desmarais said there will be an elevated police presence, bag checks and additional security measures in place. Officials said there is no evidence of a credible threat, but the additional security is being implemented out of an abundance of caution.
DURFEE HIGH SCHOOL is open. There is no credible threat. Enhanced security is in place. We take all threats seriously. This threat has proven to be false. More information to follow.

Several Durfee students reported the threat to police after seeing it on Snapchat, according to reports. Earlier in the day, the superintendent sent a letter to the Fall River community urging vigilance in the wake of Wednesday's mass shooting that claimed the lives of 17 students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
