Seekonk police have charged an elderly driver who witnesses say hit three women outside of the Ocean State Job lot on Thursday.
SEEKONK, MA — An elderly driver has been charged with negligent driving after three women were struck outside of the Ocean State Job Lot on Highland Avenue. Police said James McAleer, 76, of Providence, also faces possible license revocation in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Three women were taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries on Thursday after they were struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the Ocean State Job Lot on Highland Avenue early in the afternoon. Police said one of the three women was pinned
beneath the car and had to be freed using airbags.
Police said they responded to the scene and assisted all three victims, who were sent to an area hospital for their injuries. Witnesses said McAleer was backing up his car when he struck the women and another vehicle.
