An emergency shelter was opened for Seekonk residents at Hurley Middle School (650 Newman Ave.) Saturday at 12 p.m., Selectman Nelson Almeida told Seekonk Patch. Water and heat is available at the shelter.
Nearly 70 percent of Seekonk's 6,300 National Grid customers are without power, according to the company's website. There is no estimated time for when power will be restored. Almeida said it could be a couple days.Â
