Home Of Notorious Murder Suspect For Sale
Maplecroft, where Lizzie Borden lived the rest of her life after being acquitted of killing her father and stepmother, is on the market.
FALL RIVER, MA – Maplecroft, the Fall River mansion where Lizzie Borden lived after she was acquitted of killing her father and stepmother, is back on the market. The eight-bedroom home was bought in 2014 by Kristee Bates, a resident of Dallas, TX, who told the Herald News she planned to turn it into a bed and breakfast.
She set about restoring the house to its original late 19th century look the following year, but decided to sell it due to "city politics," according to the Herald News. Maplecroft is not the site of the brutal ax murders of Andrew and Abby Borden in 1892; Lizzie Borden moved there in 1894 and lived under the name "Lizbeth A. Borden" until her death in 1927.
The asking price for Maplecroft, located at 306 French Street, is $849,000. Check it out here.
