It's Election Day in Seekonk
There are three competitive races and one measure on the ballot.

Seekonk voters are headed to the polls today to vote in the annual municipal election. The ballot includes competitive races for selectmen, school committee and water commission. Also, voters will determine if they want to support a tax to fund the completion of the Banna fire station project.
The selectmen contest for one seat includes incumbent Francis Cavaco as well as challengers Mike Brady and Paul Buckley. Cavaco has been on the board since August 2008, when he won a special election to complete the term of Carol Bragg. He was elected to a full term in 2010. Brady served on the board of selectmen from 2005 to 2011, but declined to run for a third consecutive term. Buckley, a Seekonk native, is on the board of assessors.
Seven candidates are running for two seats on the school committee. There are no incumbents in the field because both seats are occupied by men appointed to the positions in December following resignations by two members who left the town. Neither appointee was interested in running for a full term.

The ballot also includes a measure asking residents if they want to pay a property tax to fund the nearly $700,000 needed to complete the Banna fire station project. Selectman Gary Sagar says the tax will cost a person with a home worth $264,000 approximately $8 per year.
All voting will take place at Seekonk High School, 261 Arcade Ave., from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Look for results tonight on Seekonk Patch.Â
