Missing Florida Dog Found Safe...in Massachusetts
A Florida couple was overjoyed after their stolen dog turned up safe in Massachusetts.
SWANSEA, MA — Call it the doggone trip of a lifetime. A dog named Apollo that went missing from his Jacksonville, Florida, home last month turned up safe in Swansea — 1,130 miles away. He was soon reunited with its overjoyed owners who had all but given up hope they would see him again.
Apollo went missing Aug. 11. His owners said they believe the dog was stolen. Apollo is a mix of Great Pyrenees and St. Bernard.
About a month later, the dog was found wandering the streets of Swansea and transported to the town's animal control office. The dog was identified via a microchip, and a team of volunteers drove Apollo back to his Jacksonville home.

“It’s a big relief just having him back, knowing he’s OK,” the dog's owner, Cynthia Abercrombie, told the Florida Times-Union. She said Apollo lost some weight but otherwise is doing OK.
