Naked Men, Skipping Bill and Pizza on Fire

The following information is from the Seekonk police and fire dispatch log. When an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Here is a look at recent incidents in Seekonk, according to the police and fire dispatch log:

May 1 

  • 11:57 a.m. Spilled gravel was reported at the intersection of Newman Avenue and Read Street. A police officer determined there was mostly dirt on Read Street. The department of public works was notified and a construction company returned to the scene to clean the area.
  • 12:07 p.m. A police officer on Read Street reported "smoke in the area, possible illegal burn." Fire officials determined the smoke was due to a "compost pile rekindled." It was extinguished.
  • 3:31 p.m. A fire alarm sounded at a home on King Philip Road. It was determined to be a "burned pizza box."

May 2

  • 7:15 p.m. Fire and police officials responded to a reported "suspicious condition" in the parking lot at Friday's, located at 1105 Fall River Ave. The log reports the finding of a "naked male crouched between two cars injecting himself with needles." It does not specify if the man was arrested.
  • 11:32 p.m. The manager at Applebee's, located at 105 Highland Ave., said a person left the restaurant without paying a $26.80 bill. Police contacted the owner of the vehicle in which the person left the restaurant. The person said his son had been at the restaurant and did not pay due to an "oversight." He said the son would return to the restaurant to make the payment.

May 3

  • 2:04 p.m. Shoplifting was reported at Walmart, located at 1180 Fall River Ave. A male was in custody, but the log does not specify if the person was arrested or summoned.

May 4

  • 4:11 p.m. A vehicle struck a house near Seekonk Speedway. Go here for more information on this story from The Sun Chronicle.

May 5

  • 9:43 a.m. The owner of a home on King Philip Road reported someone drove on his law the night of May 3, which was a Friday. "He stated it has happened before on a Friday night. He is requesting officers keep an extra eye in the area on weekend nights."

May 6

  • 4:15 p.m. Richard Bento, 21, of Swansea was arrested on two unspecified warrants at Not Your Average Joes, located at 1125 Fall River Ave.
  • 5:16 p.m. Police and fire officials responded to a "suspicious condition" in the parking lot at Shangri-La Motel, located at 1495 Fall Rive Ave. "Party reports white male party naked on the ground in the parking lot." A man was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, but it was not specified in the log if it was the naked man. 

May 7

  • 10:24 p.m. A person reported a fight in the McDonald's parking lot, located at 250 Highland Ave. The person said "all parties left in a white vehicle." A police officer arrived at the scene and determined the lot was clear.
