Gerald “Jerry” Barboza, 72, of Sharps Lot Rd., Swansea, died Aug. 25, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Olivia (Bettencourt) Barboza.
Jerry was born in Fall River, a son of the late Augustine J. Barboza (MA State Trooper, Ret.) and the late Hilda Medeiros-Quental. Mr. Barboza was employed with Martelly Construction for over 20 years and being a talented woodworker he was then employed as a carpentry/building teacher with Diman Regional Vocational High School before retiring 10 years ago. Jerry, along with his students built many area homes. He served his country with the Army National Guard, enjoyed camping, and was a loving and caring person who was devoted to his family.

Besides his loving wife of more than 49 years, he is survived by his sons, Scott Barboza of Dighton, David Barboza of Fall River, and Todd Barboza of MA. He was the grandfather of Mackenzie, Madison, Ashley, Sarah and Taylor Barboza. He was also the brother of Robert Barboza of Dighton and Mary Kappes of Swansea.
To honor Jerry’s wishes, his funeral and burial will be private. Arrangements were entrusted with Hathaway Community Home for Funerals.
