Oversight and Maintenance Needed if Seekonk Buildings to Stand the Test of Time
Seekonk buildings in disrepair, and capital improvement committee chair says it could get worse.

Capital expenditures in the 2014 fiscal year budget in Seekonk is angering selectmen
The items, totaling $479,135, including buildings that new selectman Michael Brady said were not old enough to warrant such rehabilitation. He added he wants to make sure that building experts and engineers take a second look at the project before the monies are spent.
Chair of the municipal capital improvement committee Lauren Walsh said there may be even more repairs down the road if additional oversight for maintenance and upkeep of the buildings is not put forth.

Items on the capital improvement budget include:
Rehabilitation of the stage at Seekonk High School, walkways and drainage for Martin School, radiant heat and ceiling insulation at the Department of Public Works garage, a medium duty extended cab truck for sanding and plowing, a six-wheel dump truck for the DPW, a redundant back system for the MIS department and a five-year lease purchase of telecommunications network and applications.
