RI Pedestrian Killed In Fatal Swansea Crash
Police said the man got in an argument with a friend, got out of the car and was hit by a pickup truck on I-195 in Swansea.
SWANSEA, MA — A Rhode Island man died Saturday evening when he was hit by a pickup truck on Interstate 195 in Swansea, Massachusetts State Police said.
Just before 5:30 p.m., State Police were called to I-195 eastbound near exit 8 after reports of a man being struck by a Chevrolet Silverado. According to police, Ulise Pena, 47, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was a passenger in a Dodge Ram and got in a fight with the driver, a 41-year-old Providence man.
Police said the driver pulled into the breakdown lane and Pena got out, ran across all three lanes and was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 21-year-old Lincoln, Rhode Island man.

State troopers tried to give CPR and other first aid, but Pena was ruled dead at the scene.Both drivers remained at the scene following the crash, and no other injuries were reported.
The crash closed the left lane of the highway for three hours.
