Seekonk-Based Company Relocating To Rhode Island

RI Gov. Gina Raimondo and the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation board this week approved economic incentives to lure two MA companies.

SEEKONK, MA – One company's Seekonk offices will relocate to Rhode Island amid approval of new economic incentives in the state. Xeros Inc., the cleaning technology division of Sheffield, England-based Xeros Technology Group, is approved for approximately $785,000 in incentives to create 25 jobs under the Qualified Jobs Incentive Act, according to a press release. Xeros also has the potential to receive additional credits for creating up to 40 jobs.

The company, which uses a patented technology to reduce water consumption in operations such as commercial laundries, plans to move to an engineering facility at an undetermined location.

"The tools put in place by Governor Raimondo made our decision to relocate our Engineering facility to Rhode Island economically feasible for Xeros," George Silvia, vice president of engineering, said in a statement. "We thank the team at the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation and are excited about our growth and success in the Ocean State."

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo and the board of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation this week approved economic incentives to lure Xeros and Fall River-based Alliance Paper to the state. Alliance will move to Pawtucket and was approved for a little under $300,000 in Qualified Job Tax Credits. The paper manufacturer could receive additional credits for creating up to 30 jobs.

"Today’s news offers more proof that Rhode Island’s economy is on the move," Raimondo said in a press release. "Every business that brings jobs here because of our Commerce programs creates an opportunity for Rhode Islanders. Businesses already creating jobs here need support through targeted programs like our Innovation Vouchers. These are strategies with successful track records in other states. We cannot stop working to strengthen our economy until every middle-class family has the security and stability they deserve."
