Seekonk Firefighter Injured In Fall River Mill Fire

A Seekonk firefighter sustained an ankle injury when he fell in a smoky stairwell under low-air conditions.

SEEKONK, MA — A Seekonk firefighter sustained an ankle injury while trying to exit a fire that tore through a Fall River mill Sunday night. Seekonk Firefighters Local 1931 said the firefighter was making his way down a smoke-, debris- and water-filled stairwell when he slipped and injured his ankle falling down the stairwell.

Seekonk fire was providing mutual aid on the blaze that took three hours to get under control with firefighters working under low-air conditions in their breathing apparatus. Local 1931 said the firefighter was taken to Fall River Hospital where he was treated and released. They said he was resting comfortably at home late Monday afternoon.
