Seekonk Reports 61 New Coronavirus Cases

The latest statistics from the Massachusetts Department of Health reveal that the town is experiencing an increase in positive cases.

SEEKONK, MA—The Town of Seekonk reported 61 positive coronavirus cases in the last two weeks, which is an increase from the 56 cases reported on November 6.

According to the latest statistics from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health released on Thursday, Seekonk has experienced a total number of 252 confirmed coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

The town currently has an average daily incidence rate of 31.1, up from last week's rate of 28.5, and remains in the red zone, meaning that it has at least 10 average daily cases per 10,000 residents and a 5% positivity rate. Prior to this week, a town was considered a red zone if it had at least 8 average daily cases per 10,000 residents.

The number of positive coronavirus cases statewide has continued to increase, with 2,482 cases and 21 deaths reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic to 174,953 and the total number of deaths to 10,015. The state currently has an average daily incidence rate of 20.7.

As a response to the rising number of coronavirus cases, the state introduced new mandatory guidelines on November 6, including a stay at home advisory between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., the early closure of businesses and activities at 9:30 p.m., a face covering requirement in all public places, and a new order reducing the gathering size limit to 10 people at indoor private events and 25 people at outdoor private events.
