A woman killed near Exit 1 on Route I-195 Sunday night was the second death in three days on the highway in Seekonk.
SEEKONK, MA — A New Bedford teen killed in a chain-reaction crash on I-195 in Seekonk Sunday night was the second death on the roadway in three days. On Friday night, a 72-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into the back of a trailer being towed by a Mack truck.
Bristol County District Attorney's Office said Monday that Gisella Carrier, 16, was a passenger in one of the cars involved in the four-car crash on Sunday.
State Police said Sunday night a 2019 Chevy Silverado was traveling east on I-195 when it came up on slowing traffic due to a car fire about a mile ahead near Exit 1. The driver of the Silverado slammed on the brakes, but crashed into the back of a 2001 Chrysler. That began a chain reaction in which the Chrysler hit the rear of a 2005 Acura TSX, which was pushed into the reach of a 2017 Lexus NX.
