Seekonk Senior Center Move on Hold
A Town Meeting vote on a temporary move for the senior center is postponed indefinitely. The move could happen anyhow because the board of selectmen already approved it.

A planned Town Meeting vote Wednesday on spending $20,000 to move the senior center to a temporary location at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Arcade Avenue was postponed indefinitely while alternatives are explored. The vast majority of the more 100 people in attendance supported the motion for a postponement.
However, the senior center move could happen anyhow because the board of selectmen has already approved it. Town Meeting approval would have only changed what government account was used to fund the move.
There are safety concerns about the current facility on Pleasant Street, and the voter-approved new senior center is not expected to be built anytime soon. A petition was presented to the board of selectmen last week demanding the temporary move not happen.
