SEEKONK/SWANSEA, MA — The biggest snowstorm yet this winter will hit Seekonk and Swansea with 7 inches of snow, 35 mph wind, and possible white-out conditions Saturday.
About 3-4 inches of snow fell on the region Friday. An additional 7 inches is on the way starting Saturday morning. A winter storm watch is in effect through Sunday morning:
- A WINTER STORM WARNING...IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM SATURDAY TO 1 AM EST SUNDAY.
- LOCATIONS...INCLUDE EAST COASTAL AND INTERIOR SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS...ALL OF RHODE ISLAND INCLUDING BLOCK ISLAND.
- SNOW ACCUMULATION...OF 4 TO 8 INCHES.
- TIMING...SNOW OVERSPREADS THE AREA SATURDAY MORNING BECOMING HEAVY AT TIMES SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING...THEN TAPERING OFF LATE SATURDAY NIGHT.
- IMPACTS...UNTREATED ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLICK. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED. TRAVEL WILL BECOME HAZARDOUS AS SNOW BECOMES HEAVY AT TIMES ALONG WITH GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS RESULTING IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW.
- WINDS...NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.
- VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.
