Selectman Parker Returns After Health Scare

A serious case of pneumonia sent the Seekonk selectman to the hospital. He says he is alive because somebody's prayers were answered.

Seekonk selectmen welcomed back their colleague Dave Parker Wednesday at his first meeting since being sent to the hospital Easter morning with a life-threatening case of pneumonia. Parker was on a respirator in the hospital for several days and he was told the initial prognosis had been there was a "slim chance" he would make it.

"I want to thank everybody for their prayers, for their emails," said Parker at the beginning of the meeting. "Somebody's prayers came true. They certainly weren't mine. I was sleeping at the time."

Parker said after the meeting his health is improving every day.
