Senior Center Status on Selectmen Agenda
Also on the agenda is a vote on the contract length for public works Superintendent Bob Lamoureux.

Seekonk selectmen will hear from Bernedette Huck, director of human services, and the building commission tonight about the progress of fixing the violations at the Council on Aging building on Pleasant Street. Selectmen last week rescinded their earlier decision to move the senior center temporarily to the Knights of Columbus Hall while a voter-approved permanent building is constructed near Town Hall.
Huck said last week progress was being made on fixing the violations. The school department, which owns the building, is taking care of two of the issues. The town is responsible for the others.
Also on tonight's agenda is the length of the contract for Bob Lamoureux, superintendent of the department of public works. Lamoureux's future with the town was in jeopardy late last year when selectmen were split on whether to negotiate a new contract with him. He also did not have the support of Town Administrator Pam Nolan, who had recommended Lamoureux not receive a new three-year contract, but that he be allowed to stay at least one more year so "we could work out our relationship so we could work out together."

Since selectmen were unable to make a decision, a one-year renewal on Lamoureux's existing contract was automatically renewed. With one of his biggest critics, Francis Cavaco, having lost his seat on the board last month, a more favorable future and possibly a new contract could be in store for Lamoureux.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Go here  to see the agenda.
