Parents have the most important job in the world--one they don't get paid for. And, raising happy and healthy children is every parent's mission. Parents teach children to hold their hand while crossing the street and to look both ways. And, we teach children to wear a bike helmet when riding their bike. We also would like to recommend that parents to talk to their children about their private body parts safe. Name body parts their right name--it can go a long way to not create any shame associated with their body. And, tell your children that NO adult needs help with their private body parts. Bottomline--educate your child and let them know that no one should be harming them. Last year, the Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol County provided services to nearly 500 children who were victims of child sexual abuse. This is a preventable crime. Begin the conversation.
