Medical Marijuana Moratorium Among Items on Town Meeting Warrant
Here is a look at some of the warrant articles for the Spring 2013 Town Meeting.

Seekonk selectmen will meet tonight to review and sign the warrant for the June 10 town meeting. Here is a look at some of the articles featured in the document.Â
Article 15 calls for a one-year moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries in Seekonk. Massachusetts voters approved a measure in November legalizing medical marijuana, and the regulations for facilities carrying the product were issued earlier this month.
The medical marijuana law allows municipalities to create their own regulations. The warrant article says Seekonk needs time to develop its regulations, and the town has no current zoning laws for marijuana dispensaries.

Article 11 calls for an additional $500,000 for the construction of the senior center next to Town Hall. Voters approved a $2.5 million bond for the project last year.Â
The warrant calls for a total of $479,135 of appropriated funds for the following projects: Rehabilitation of the stage at Seekonk High School, walkways and drainage for Martin School, radiant heat and ceiling insulation at the Department of Public Works garage, a medium duty extended cab truck for sanding and plowing, a six-wheel dump truck for the DPW, a redundant back system for the MIS department and a five-year lease purchase of telecommunications network and applications.
