Winter Storm Watch Issued for Seekonk, Swansea

Up to 10 inches of snow could fall in the area from late Wednesday night through Friday morning.

Heavy, wet snow and strong winds are in the forecast for Seekonk and Swansea as well as the rest of Eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and portions of Connecticut and New Hampshire. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the area that will be in effect from late tonight through Friday morning.

Accuweather reports Seekonek and Swansea could receive six to 10 inches of snow by Friday morning.

"Unfortunately there is still some uncertainty regarding exact snowfall amounts, but this storm will have a significant impact on Southern New England," the NWS' website states.

The NWS says this will be a "long-duration storm" that could make traveling difficult, especially late Thursday into Friday morning. "Heavy" snow is expected to begin fall Thursday morning, and should continue to come down in varying amounts until the following morning. 

"Now is the time to prepare for the storm," the NWS' website says. "Stay informed of the latest forecasts. Those planning travel should be prepared to modify plans to avoid traveling during the height of the storm."
