Congressman Auchincloss is Championing Young People
His amendments to H.R. 1 demonstrate a commitment to the youth of America, like myself
Congressman Auchincloss is championing voting rights and making sure young people have a say in our democracy.
Last week, voting in favor of H.R. 1, the “For the People Act,” (which will expand voting rights and empower citizens through electoral reform,) the Congressman also included two amendments in the bill. The first amendment expands the requirements for states to receive grants for poll worker recruitment and training to ensure states include youth and minor poll worker recruitment. The second amendment will make certain that voter challenges will not discriminate against young voters. This amendment contributes to that effort as it adds “age” to the list of bases upon which voter challenges by non-election officials will be presumed as lacking a good faith factual basis.
Adding these amendments demonstrates Congressman Auchincloss's commitment and service to America's young people. He recognizes that we deserve to use our voices to bring the change we seek to our country, at all levels. We are fighting for the things that matter to us: from climate change to gun control, from racial justice to foreign policy, participation in the political process is key to making progress on all those fronts. With his amendments to H.R. 1, Congressman Auchincloss just made it easier for us to make our voices heard and to participate in our democratic process.
