Memorial Walk for Sharon Resident Approved for June 16

The Sharon Board of Selectmen voted to approve a request from Sharon residents for a memorial walk along Lake Massapoag June 16.

Victor and Andrea Auerbach started the walk for their daughter, Marisa. They organized the walk with Cindi Greenstein.

The walk will take place on Father’s Day this year.

The couple said they originally wanted to do the walk at the Boston Marathon.

“We wanted to walk the last four miles of the Boston Marathon because Marisa received a donor heart 10 years ago from a donor who died on the last four miles from the Boston Marathon,” Andrea Auerbach said.

The donor, Cynthia Lucero, was an avid runner and an organ donor.

The walk is designed to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“What’s leftover will go to a scholarship fund,” Victor Auerbach said.

The group will be taking donations at the lake for t-shirts at the event.
