UPDATE: Man Injured After Pickup Truck Hits Pole on South Main Street, Jaws of Life Used

A middle aged man was taken to Norwood Hospital for injuries.

A middle aged man was hospitalized after his pickup truck struck a telephone pole on South Main Street this evening rolling the truck on its side.

According to Sharon Fire Captain Bryant Simpson, the man was trapped in the vehicle and fire crews needed the Jaws of Life to pull him from the truck.

The man was taken to Norwood Hospital. Simpson said he did not know the extent of the injuries but believes they are non-life threatening.

The man was the only person involved in the accident.

Simpson said South Main Street will be closed for an extended period of time.

“They have to replace a pole and do some work down there before they’re going to open it back up,” Simpson said.

The call came in around 6:15 p.m.
