SHARON, MA — July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Sharon so you can start planning now.

When: Activities begin at 4 p.m., July 3

Memorial Beach Park, off Lake Massapoag gives Sharon one of the best places around to have an Independence Day celebration, and there's plenty to do throughout the afternoon and evening. The day begins at 4 p.m., with a bicycle and doll carriage parade. The parade will travel on Beach Street to the bandstand, where the rest of the celebration begins.

At 4:30 p.m. a children's show from Circus Dynamics kicks off the bandstand activities. At 6:30 p.m., get ready to dance with live music by Cold Chocolate.

After your barbecues, make sure to save some room for dessert and a lot of it! Sharon's annual pie eating contest is back. It costs $50 to enter, but there's a prize for the winner. Contestants can sign up at the main gate the day of the event. Anyone entering must be at least 18.

The night ends with a beautiful firework display with Lake Massapoag as the backdrop, The fireworks shoot off at 9:30 p.m.

Before it gets dark, it's expected to be a hot one, with high temperatures reaching 90 degrees. Make sure to stay hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen.
