For the 23rd year in a row, Gifts for Kids has eased the financial burden of less fortunate families by asking for donations from the community.
This year, 940 kids will benefit from the volunteers and donors of the organization with two-thirds of kids benefitting from gifts dropped off at their Sharon location.

“The first year they were dropping the gifts at my door, now it’s a well oiled machine,” Pat McDougal of Gifts for Kids said.

Like previous years, the group received lists of kids and needs from human services agencies and sent letters out to past donors and agencies asking for help.
After donors receive a list of needs for a child, they drop off a garbage bag, sometimes two filled with $75-150 worth of items ranging from clothes, toys, books, and games.
To help fill any holes, donations of individual items are also taken and are given to a child that did not receive as much in donations.Â
