Sharon High PTSO Hosting Pre-Prom Event to Discuss Social Host Law

The event will be Tuesday, May 14 in the Sharon High School library at 7 p.m.

The Sharon High School PTSO will be hosting a presentation on the Social Host Law entitled 'Be A Parent, Not A Pal' next week.

The event, which will be Tuesday, May 14 in the Sharon High School library at 7 p.m., presents parents and students with stories of victims of underage drinking and the adult hosts who have been prosecuted under the law.

Attorney Brandon Arbor, of Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy, who created the presentation, will explain the risks of well-meaning parents who think they are providing safe havens for their children and their children’s friends to drink alcohol and party in their homes.

“It’s a valuable program. It’s an important message to hear and I’m hopeful that we have a lot of parents in attendance,” said Sharon High School Principal Jose Libano.

“I think it’s great timing with the prom season, not that it’s not an important message at any time of the year, but around prom maybe it will resonate even more,” Libano said.

The law firm gives the presentation to high schools across the state and this is the first time it will be presented at Sharon High School.

“I’ve heard very positive things about it," Libano said.
