Sharon High School Reports New Staff Coronavirus Case

The district said all close contacts of the individual have been notified.

SHARON, MA — Sharon Public Schools reported on Thursday that a staff member at Sharon High School has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a letter to families from Superintendent of Schools Meg Dussault, anyone who may have come into contact with the individual has been notified.

The new case comes a day after the district announced it has been approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to participate in an additional six weeks of pool COVID-19 testing in partnership with Ginkgo Bioworks.

According to the latest statistics released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Sharon has experienced a total of 702 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 105 reported in the last two weeks. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 41 and a 4.15% positivity rate, a decrease from last week's average daily incidence rate of 54.7 and 5.42% positivity rate.
