Sharon July 4th Fireworks, Events and More: 2018 Guide

Fireworks will light up the sky over Lake Massapoag.

SHARON, MA — Sharon will host the annual Independence Day celebration on July 3. The festivities begin at the Decorated Bike and Doll Carriage Parade at 4 p.m. and concludes with fireworks over Lake Massapoag at 9:30 p.m. There will be a host of games, entertainment and music to enjoy in between.

Here's a look at the festival activities:

  • 4 p.m. - Bicycle and Doll Carriage Parade – The parade will travel on Beach Street to the bandstand. (line up at Beech Tree Park at the corner of Pond and Beach streets at 3:45 p.m.), plus the start of all the ongoing activities.
  • 4:30 p.m. - Children’s show featuring Circus
  • 6:30 p.m. - Live music by Guilty Pleasure
  • 8 p.m. - Pie Eating Contest - $50. Prize for winner (sign up to enter at the main gate - must be 18 years or older to enter
  • 9:30 p.m. - Independence Day Finale – fireworks over Lake Massapoag

Ongoing activities starting at 4 p.m.:

  • Disc jockey, Chris Zienko, at the bandstand
  • Sharon's sixth annual food truck fair, featuring some of the Boston area's best food trucks
  • Carnival games
  • Activities, at the picnic tables on the grass outside the bandstand, organized by the Sharon Recreation Department.
  • Train rides and slot car racing games from the Roaming Railroad (a longtime Sharon Independence Day Celebration tradition)
  • Photo contest (details to come)

During the event the following is not allowed:

  • No coolers - No liquids/alcohol
  • No firearms, weapons, sharp objects, or fireworks
  • No backpacks
  • No Glass gontainers
  • No cans
  • No grilling, propane tanks, or open flames

Incidentals should be kept in clear bag.

If you make it out for the celebration, be aware of the hot weather. The National Weather Service's forecast calls for a high of 92 degrees with a low of 70.
