Sharon Named One Of The Safest Communities In America

SHARON, MA — The Town of Sharon has been named one of the safest communities in America by the online resource SafeWise.

SafeWise released a list of 100 of the safest cities and towns in the country on May 24, with 17 in Massachusetts. Milton ranked number 36 overall and number nine in the state.

"These crime-curbing communities have cause to celebrate," said SafeWise in a statement. "The 100 cities in our roundup boast a collective violent crime rate that's 92% lower than the national average. And, when it comes to property crime, our top 100 locales report 79% fewer property crimes per 1,000 people than most of the US."

According to SafeWise, Massachusetts has the second highest number of communities on the list, only beat by New Jersey. Here is a complete list of Massachusetts towns on the list and their overall rankings:
