Sharon Police To Keep Ear Out For Illegal Fireworks

Sharon police remind residents fireworks are illegal in MA - and dangerous.

SHARON, MA — The Sharon Police Department is reminding residents that fireworks are illegal in MA and cannot be lit off on private property in Sharon.

Sharon Deputy Police Chief Don Brewer posted the reminder of the state law on social media on Tuesday.

"They are also extremely dangerous," Brewer posted. "Fireworks are defining as 'any combustible or explosive composition or substance, or any combination of such compositions or substances, or any other article which was prepared for the purpose of producing a visible or audible effect by combustion, explosion, deflagration or detonation.'"

The following fall under the definition of illegal fireworks in MA: blank cartridges or toy cannons, cherry bombs, silver salutes, M-80’s, Roman candles, sparklers, rockets, wheels.
