Sharon Public Schools To Return To Full In-Person Learning

SHARON, MA — Sharon Public Schools announced Friday that the district will begin shifting to full in-person learning next month in accordance with guidelines released Tuesday by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

According to a letter to families from Interim Superintendent Meg Dussault, elementary students will be able to return to full in person learning on April 5 and middle school students will have the option to return starting April 28. The district has not yet released a return date for high school students, but it expects that it will be before the end of the academic year.

Families will be required to choose between in-person and remote learning, as there will no longer be a hybrid option available, said Dussault. The elementary schools and middle school have sent out surveys to determine which option families will be choosing.

Students who return to full in-person learning will be required to maintain three feet of distance in the classrooms and six feet of distance during lunch. Those who continue to learn remotely will be switched into a remote academy classroom.

All teachers and staff will be back in the school buildings full-time starting April 5 and Wednesdays will continue to be half days for students to allow time for check-ins and professional development.
