Sharon Resident Marlene Moyer Receives Award from Rashi School
Over 250 people attended The Rashi School's Limud Celebration on December 5 honoring Marlene Moyer, a beloved Learning Specialist.

This year’s event honored Marlene Moyer, who has been a Learning Specialist at Rashi for the past twelve years working primarily with students in grades 3-5. Marlene has been instrumental in helping students access the rich Rashi School curriculum and work to the best of their abilities. Amidst delicious food, lively music and heartfelt tributes, friends, family, parents, staff and Rashi supporters celebrated Marlene’s exceptional work.
Rashi Head of School, Adam W. Fischer, explained the significance of the Limud award. “Great teaching is the core of a great school,” said Fischer. “At Rashi we celebrate our outstanding faculty. Annually we recognize a teacher that exemplifies our values at the Limud Celebration. Marlene is a wonderful choice.” He added, “I am proud to be part of this school that values teaching and learning so highly that it brings the community together to celebrate the good work the faculty does every day.”
A highlight of the evening was Marlene’s passionate and heartfelt speech. She explained why the Rashi School is so unique. ”From an early age we cultivate in our students an expectation of agency,” said Marlene. “We teach them to use their knowledge in the service of Tikkun Olam, to make the world a better place.”

Marlene ended her speech by crediting the team of dedicated teachers at Rashi as well as the community of parents. “We realize that education is a long game that takes a village, or in this case a tag team of teachers and parents, working together over many years. She concluded by asking, “What has been humility’s greatest lesson for me?” Her answer effectively summed up her teaching philosophy. “To never underestimate any child’s ability to achieve.”
Marlene and her husband Bruce have been residents of Sharon for over 30 years.
