Sharon School District Reports Positive Coronavirus Testing Pool
The district said they have identified the positive case as a student from East Elementary School.
SHARON, MA — Sharon School District reported a positive testing pool Thursday in its second phase of Ginkgo Bioworks pool testing and has identified the positive case as a student from East Elementary School.
The district is currently in the fourth week of its six-week COVID-19 testing initiative, which began the week of Feb. 8 following the end of the pool testing pilot program.
"Our pool results came back yesterday with one pool testing positive," said the district in a Twitter post. "We were able to test everyone in the pool with our BinxNOW test and identify the positive East student. All contact tracing has been completed and everyone affected has been notified."

Sharon Schools are currently operating on a hybrid model with four different cohorts of students who attend in-person classes on different days and learn remotely the rest of the week.
According to the latest statistics released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Sharon has experienced a total of 778 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 55 reported in the two weeks leading up to Feb. 25. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 21.5 and a 2.5% positivity rate.
