Somerville Landlords Incentivized To Rent To Section 8 Holders
A new program offers incentives and technical support for landlords and realtors who lease to residents holding Section 8 vouchers.
SOMERVILLE – The Somerville Office of Housing Stability and the Somerville Homeless Coalition are collaborating on SomerVIP, an incentive program designed to encourage renting to Section 8 voucher holders. The kickoff event Wednesday, March 4 will primarily focus on how landlords to rent units in Somerville and realtors in the area can receive incentives and technical support.
SomerVIP offers one-time incentive payments, money for necessary repairs and technical support to landlords and realtors who lease properties for the first time to residents holding vouchers and other mobile tenant-based programs. The program is being administered by the Somerville Homeless Coalition, which is accepting initial applications from residents holding mobile vouchers.
The kickoff event and workshop is planned for Wednesday, March 4, from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a Q&A. The event will be held in the auditorium of the Central Library, 79 Highland Ave.
