Somerville's '100 Homes' Program Accepting Applications

The deadline to apply for one- to five-bedroom apartments is Wednesday.

SOMERVILLE, MA – The Somerville Community Corporation and Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development are accepting applications for the 100 Homes Program. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 and are available at the SCC (337 Somerville Ave.), Somerville City Hall (93 Highland Ave.), and the City Hall Annex (50 Evergreen Ave.), and online at somervillecdc.org/100-Homes-Application.

The 100 Homes Program is designed to establish rental housing that is permanently affordable by acquiring multi-family properties across the city. The goal is to provide households with a range of low and moderate incomes access to quality safe and affordable housing by removing the properties from the speculative market and providing permanent affordability through deed restrictions.

he goal of the 100 Homes Program, in partnership between the City and Somerville Community Corp., and utilizing Community Preservation Funding, among other City funding, is for SCC to acquire scattered site multi-family properties in neighborhoods across the City to establish rental housing that is permanently affordable. By removing these properties from the speculative market and providing permanent affordability through deed restrictions, households with a range of low and moderate incomes, including units affordable to households earning at or below 50% of AMI and up to 100% of AMI, will be able to access quality safe and affordable housing. This also is an important tool in addressing displacement.
