Here Are The Businesses Stoughton Residents Want
Residents on Stoughton Patch said they are craving a craft beer brewery.
STOUGHTON, MA — Town officials have said on multiple occasions that attracting new businesses to Stoughton is a priority. A big part of that push has been revitalizing the downtown, and that seems to be coming to fruition, as Stoughton Economic Development Department secured a grant for almost $600,000 to repair storefronts and signage in the center. With the work beginning to show results, Patch asked Stoughton residents what types of new businesses they'd like to see come to town, and residents took to Facebook to make suggestions.

Recreational Marijuana Dispensary

Several residents said they'd like to see a recreational marijuana dispensary come to Stoughton to increase tax revenue. For this to be a possibility though, the town's opinion would have had to to change in the last two years. In 2017, voters banned recreational pot shops from coming to town, with 62 percent voting for the ban and just 29 percent supporting recreational dispensaries in Stoughton.
Craft Beer Brewery

A craft beer brewery was a popular answer for Stoughton residents. One resident pointed to the success of breweries like Castle Island in Norwood and Shovel Town in Easton, as evidence that there's an interest in the area. Another resident suggested opening a dueling pianos bar, which would include a taproom from a brewery.
Grocery Stores
Stoughton has a Stop & Shop and a Price Rite, but residents took to Facebook asking for grocery stores with a wider variety of healthy options. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods were the two supermarkets suggested the most.
