Injured Hawk Rescued By Stoughton Animal Control
Animal Control Officer Michelle Hammer was told the hawk hobbled into the woods and was unlikely to be found, but she was determined.

STOUGHTON, MA — Stoughton Animal Control rescued an injured hawk Monday morning outside South Middle School.
Police were called to the school, along with Animal Control Officer Michelle Hammer. Hammer was told the hawk hobbled into the woods, and it was unlikely she'd be able to find it.
But Hammer said she has a soft spot for hawks, so she was determined to find the injured animal.

"Officer Sullivan got there before me, and it was in the playground at the school," Hammer said. "It got startled, and it went deep into the woods. I was stubborn I knew it was injured and just kept going deeper into the woods."
After a brief 15-minute hike through the woods, Hammer said she found the hawk with an injured wing.

"When I found her, she kept hobbling away from me, so I just got low and made sure she knew I wasn't a threat," Hammer said.
The hawk has since been safely transported to Tufts Animal Hospital in Grafton.
