STOUGHTON, MA — A fire destroyed a garage and two cars Sunday on Page Street in Stoughton.

Fire officials said the fire started just before 4 p.m., in a detached garage in the 400th block of Page Street. According to fire officials, the man that lived there owned a race car. He off-loaded it, and the car backfired and started a fire. Fire officials said the flames quickly spread because there was racing fuel stored in the garage.

The entire garage was destroyed and needed to be demolished after the flames were put out. Fire officials said the fire also destroyed the race car and a Corvette. A Dodge pickup truck also sustained damage.
