State Theatre Announces 'Prime Ribbing' Performance
Stoughton State Theatre will present the political satire 'Prime Ribbing' at the Oakes Ames Memorial Hall on September 16 - 18.

From State Theatre:
Michael LaFleur knows you are in for a night of laughter when the State Theatre puts on the political satire “Prime Ribbing” at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, 3 Barrows St., North Easton. Performances are Friday, Sept. 16, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 17, at 4 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m.
The State Theatre’s artistic/development director has performed in the musical satire before, and he is excited to have the opportunity to bring it to the area. The play is happening at an interesting time with the 2016 presidential election and the current political scene. It is the brain child of playwright and political satirist Stephen deGhelder, who is also the director.

“Stephen is incredibly creative,” said LaFleur. “It is very timely, and he has creative ideas. I don’t want to give too much away, but he has a TSA person patting people that is hilarious. He also uses puppets and is so innovative.”
LaFleur has been busy organizing the event and looking for possible venues in the area that can be used until the State Theatre in Stoughton is completed and ready to go. While he has been in the performance before and is an accomplished actor, he won’t be performing in “Prime Ribbing.”

He does predict people will be happy with whatever performance they attend. Because of the timely nature of the show, you never know what deGhelder will come up with for the performance.
“It has been a tremendous success, “ said LaFleur. “We’re excited to be having it.”
The 90-minute blockbuster has drawn rare reviews across the country, performing in front of packed houses. The cast features five talented singer/actors, who provide a hilarious look at politicians, celebrities, and current trends. It has been compared to "Capital Steps," "Forbidden Broadway," and the early days of"Saturday Night Live" for its political humor and creativity.
DeGhelder is helping out the State Theatre by allowing them to use the work royalty-free.
"Prime Ribbing" is an example of the high quality performances that the State Theatre will be bringing to Stoughton in the future.
