Jackman suffered head injuries. Jackman and Bard were the only two in the car. They were coming from a wedding, where Jackman was the best man, WCVB-TV reports.

"Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears that the operator of a Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on Bolivar Street when it struck a wall and immediately thereafter a tree," according to the DA's office.

In a followup advisory released to members of the media Monday morning, Traub wrote, "The case of Commonwealth v. Sean Jackman will be prosecuted by the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest; the defendant had a summer internship with the [Norfolk County District Attorney's Office] in 2006 and is also [the] nephew of a former employee."
