The Stoughton Public Library and S.O.L.A. (Support Our Library Association) present a new cookbook, Quarantine Cuisine. Please enjoy this cookbook of collected recipes provided by S.O.LA., library staff and patrons and their friends and families. Copies can be purchased for $10 by calling the library at 781-344-2711.

Thursday, January 14, 6:30-8:30pm. Movies of Winter, Part 1- Action! Thrills! Drama! Join Stoughton's own film historian Frank Mandosa for the first of a 2-part program about the Movies of Winter. Frank will explore the dramas, thrillers and action movies that take place in winter. Titles discussed will include: The Revenant, Fargo, The Shining, Winter's Tale and Vertical Limit. Registration is required for this free program. A Zoom link will be emailed to registrants 1 day prior to the program.
Saturday, January 16 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Virtual Card Making with Christine. Join Christine for this virtual version of her card making program for adults. We will create unique holiday cards together on Zoom. The library will provide the supplies for registrants via our Front Porch Pickup.
Wednesday, January 20 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Virtual Book Discussion. Everyone is welcome to join this virtual book discussion. This month's selection is Educated, by Tara Westover. The book is available through at the library as well as electronically on the library's free Hoopla and Libby Apps. It is also on the library's circulating Kindles that are available for check out.

Monday, January 25 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Virtual Monday Morning Book Chat. Join Christine for an informal discussion to catch up and see what else everyone is reading. Enjoy your coffee or tea while connecting with friends and neighbors from the comfort of your home. This is a great way to get suggestions on what to read next!
Wednesday, January 27, 6:00-7:30pm. Ask the Genealogist. Longtime Stoughton resident David Allen Lambert is the Chief Genealogist for American Ancestors and the New England Historical Genealogical Society He will discuss the 400-year history of Massachusetts Vital Records and how to access these birth, death and marriage records. Followed by Ask the Genealogist. Please submit your questions in advance to Reference/Adult Services Librarian Josh Olshin at jolshin@ocln.org . Registration is required for this free program. Registrants will be emailed the Zoom link 1 day prior to the program.

Wednesday, January 13, 3:30-4:30PM Teen Advisory Board. Join us virtually at the interest meeting to learn more about this leadership opportunity and give feedback about upcoming programs in the library! Open to teens in Grades 6-12. Registration required for links.
Wednesday, January 20, 3:30-4:30pm. Virtual Livecodelab Workshop. Let's make a music video! This workshop by the Rhode Island Computer Museum will teach kids the wonders of coding by introducing them to this audiovisual experience. You will learn to create music and animate shapes to follow along; all with the help of basic coding! This is a virtual workshop using google “MEETS” and registration is required. Space is limited. Open to Grades 6-12.
Monday, January 25, 4:00-4:30pm. Mindful Mondays for Teens. Join us for a program that will help you to become more mindful and destress. This session features Certified Meditation Instructor Amy Rutledge who will guide you through setting clear goals and intentions for the next year. Registration required.
PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN
Monday-Thursday, December 28-31. Take and Make Crafts for School Vacation Week. Take & Make Craft bags for kids will be put out on the front porch of the library during library front porch pickup hours. No registration is required, you may just grab a bag and go. Each bag will have a few different varieties of crafts for children. Recommended for ages 3 and up. While supplies last. Please only take one bag per child.
Tuesdays, January 5, 12, 19 & 26 from 10-10:30 am. Family Storytime. Join Ms. Amy and Ms. Stacey for a fun filled family storytime over Zoom! Participants will listen to stories, sing, & dance! Stories are geared towards ages 2-6 but all ages are welcome! Weekly sign-up required. Register online and an email with the Zoom Link will be sent one hour prior to the event.
Wednesday, January 6 from 6:30-7 pm. Pajama Storytime. Join Ms. Amy & Ms. Stacey for bedtime stories and songs! Wear your pajamas and bring a stuffed friend. Stories are geared towards ages 2-6, but all ages welcome. This is a live Zoom event and registration is required. The link will be emailed 1 hour prior to the event.
Fridays, January 8, 15 & 22 from 10 am-10:30 am. The Mindful Family: Virtual Mindfulness for Preschoolers and their Caregivers. Please join Jeannine Schroder of Moment 2 Moment and the SPL Children's Department for this 3 week course for preschoolers (ages 3-6) and their caregivers. Each 30-minute class will teach a mindful concept and feature a short practice. This is a virtual event. An email with the Zoom link will be sent out 1 hour prior to the event. Please sign up once for all 3 sessions.
Thursday, January 14 from 3:30-4:15. Secret Agent Science: A Virtual STEM Program for ages 5-11. Join Adam Ellis from Super Science LLC, as he presents Secret Agent Science, a STEM event for ages 5-11! This is a virtual event and registration is required. The zoom link will be sent out 1 hour prior to the start time.
