Stoughton Receives $40K For Police Upgrades

STOUGHTON, MA — The Stoughton Police Department was awarded a state grant of about $40,000 for protective equipment and technology the department uses on a daily basis.

The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office awarded the Byrne Justice Assistance Grants to several South Shore communities including Braintree, East Bridgewater, Randolph, Sharon and Stoughton.

Town Manager Robin Grimm said the grant will be used to purchase stun guns, holsters, docks and chargers.

"Our department has a need to upgrade this equipment, and the Byrne grant will allow us to start that process almost immediately," Grimm said in a statement. "Thank you to Chief McNamara, Deputy Chief Holmes and their team at Stoughton PD for exemplary work. Also, thanks for the continued support of Senator Timilty, and Representatives Galvin and Kafka!"
