Stoughton Recreation Brings New Summer Hours and Programming

Davis said the program will now run until 4 p.m. to better accommodate the parents' work week and improve the program for the children.

STOUGHTON, MA — The Stoughton Recreation Department extended the hours for its summer open playground program.

Previous versions of this summer program ran from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stoughton Recreation Director Tim Davis said the program will now run until 4 p.m. to better accommodate the parents' work week and improve the program for the children.

According to Davis, "This means longer field trips and more intense programs." He said the sports the kids play during the playground program will benefit a lot from the additional length.

In addition to extended hours, the recreation department added more of its "Movies in the Park" events to the summer itinerary. The following movie showings begin at dusk and are taking place free of charge:

  • Halloran Park: July 11 - Coco
  • Cedar Hill Golf Course: July 25 - Moana
  • West School Athletic Complex: August 8 - Inside Out

"Movies in the Park" is funded through a grant from the Stoughton Cultural Council.
