Stoughton Selectwoman Named Commonwealth Heroine
NTI Finance Manager Debra Roberts celebrated by Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women

Debra Roberts, a Stoughton Selectwoman, has been named as one of the Commonwealth Heroines of 2020 by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. She was nominated by State Representative Louis Kafka, who represents part of Stoughton.
Roberts is Finance Manager for the National Telecommuting Institute, a nonprofit organization that helps Americans with disabilities find remote and at home employment working in call centers for government organization, Fortune 500, large and small companies with free training and job placement services.
“I was surprised and honored to be named a Commonwealth Heroine,” said Roberts, who is chairperson of the Stoughton Diversity & Inclusion Organization. “Volunteering helps you connect with your community to make it a better place for all. There are always opportunities for anyone to volunteer and give back to their community. I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the entire Stoughton Diversity & Inclusion Organization.”

Massachusetts honors the heroines making a difference in the community without fanfare or recognition by using their time, talent, and spirit to get others involved.
“We are so proud of Debra’s accomplishment,” said Alan Hubbard, NTI’s Inc.’s Chief Operating Officer. “Her commitment to helping people in her professional career and in her personal life is very much appreciated by everyone she works with. She is a true leader here at NTI and in her community.”

Roberts was recently elected to the Stoughton Board of Selectmen. Previously, she was a member of the town’s Finance and Taxation Committee and a member of the Board of Assessors.
“My grandparents and my parents instilled in me a passion for community service,” said Roberts. “We all have the opportunity to volunteer and give back however possible to make our communities a better place to live.”
In her role at the Stoughton Diversity & Inclusion Organization, Roberts prioritizes community engagement; recently leading a peaceful town-wide vigil in the memory of George Floyd.
