Teen Injured In Stoughton Shooting, Suspect At-Large
The shooting forced Stoughton residents on several streets to shelter-in-place.
STOUGHTON, MA — A Stoughton teen was shot at his home on Sumner Street Thursday night, according to police.
The shooting happened around 8:45 p.m. Police said the suspect, a Black man with short dreadlocks, ran away after shooting the 18-year-old. Emergency officials brought the teen to a local hospital for treatment, and police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
Following the shooting, police asked residents on Sumner Street, Ryan Road, Cedar Street and Ash Street to shelter-in-place.

A Massachusetts State Police helicopter and K-9 units from Braintree and Sharon police were called to help find the suspect, but after several hours, police called off the search. Police said they believe the suspect is armed, but they also said the shooting was targeted. According to police, the neighborhoods are safe.
"We would like to stress to the neighboring community that our streets are safe," Stoughton police said in a statement. "If we thought they weren’t we would communicate that to you. We appreciate your cooperation last night, and we understand that it was unnerving to see your police department ask you to shelter in your own homes while we searched for a gunman. Today is a new day."
