As an adult dancer, there's little in the way of opportunity. If you look hard enough and long enough, you can find an adult class or two. Sometimes you may have the chance to perform in the end-of-year recital. But the chance to continue to challenge yourself as an artist, to grow in a supportive dance environment with the opportunity to perform and push yourself to new heights is limited to the point of virtual non-existence. Enter, ECHO Dance Collaborative.
ECHO Dance Collaborative, founded by Kate Amdur and Travers King, is a collection of adult dancers from varying backgrounds and experience levels, from choreographers and dance teachers to dedicated adult students. ECHO strives to provide an outlet for those who share a passion for dance, the chance to explore it as an art form, to perform at a higher level and grow as dancers in a supportive environment.
Their first show, Keeping the Faith, premiers this month featuring duos, trios and group dances in a variety of styles including jazz, tap and contemporary. Sudbury resident Travers King is one of the founding members and directors, Amaia Martini Bar of Hudson will be providing complimentary food and a cash bar, and company members (some of whom double as choreographers) hail from throughout central and eastern Massachusetts. It's a wonderful way to support local groups and spend an evening immersed in the arts.
