The Annual 4th Of July Parade, Race: Sudbury Is Ready, Are You?

Sudbury celebrates the 4th in a big way, with a parade and a road race.

SUDBURY, MA—They call it, "Independence Day The Sudbury Way!"

The Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is planning for another bang-up parade for the annual 4th of July celebration in town.

This year's parade starts at 1 p.m. starting at Union Avenue at the Boston Post Road intersection. From there, it will head east on Boston Post Road, take a left on Concord Road, and go straight into Town Center.

The annual Sudbury July Fourth Road Race, a tradition in town for more than 50 years, will be held again this year on July 4 as well. Preregistration is available here.

The race will be run this year in memory of Bob Hall, who had been the driving force behind this event for many years, said the announcement.

Race day registration at Featherland Park on Concord Road is open from 7:30-8:45 a.m. The registration fee is $20 for adults and $10 for kids. The 1.5-mile race for kids 9-13 years old will go off at 8:30 a.m.; the 3.75-mile race for runners 14 years and older will start at 9 a.m.

Children under the age of 9 will not be permitted to run due to insurance limitations. Please note, a waiver of liability is required of all runners. A parent or guardian must sign for runners under 18 years old.

Trophies will be awarded to the first three finishers in each of 10 age groups. As tradition has it in this hometown race, only Sudbury residents, Sudbury employees or runners who grew up in Sudbury are eligible to win trophies and prizes, but other runners are certainly welcome.
